Arame are thin threaded algae, mild in taste and combine well with root vegetables, tofu or seeds.
Arame are thin threaded algae, mild in taste and combine well with root vegetables, tofu or seeds. They do not have as intense a taste as other algae, so they are recommended at the beginning until the taste for sea vegetables develops. During cooking, it is good to add a little shoyu to emphasize their mild sweet taste, and a few drops of rice vinegar.
Directions for use: Wash raw algae well with running water and soak for 15 minutes in hot water. Then drain them and rinse well, and discard the remaining water from soaking. Boil one tablespoon of seaweed for 20 minutes, season with soy sauce. It is good to combine them with root vegetables, seeds and tofu.
